WordPress 2.1

Posted by Johan Cyprich on 23 Jan 2007 | Tagged as: Applications

January has been a WordPress update month. The first security update was 2.06, followed by 2.07 five days later. Yesterday, a major update was released: version 2.1.

I followed the steps which were exactly the same as the previous upgrades. Again, it was a perfect install. All of my plugins and modifications worked. Making the upgrade was easy, but it would be nice if a simpler installation was made for less experienced users. Perhaps the software could be designed to upgrade itself?

There are quite a few good features with the new release. One that is very good is the tabbed editor which allows you to switch between WYSIWYG and a code editor. I tend to do a lot of tweaking of my messages to make them display correctly.

Overall, the upgrade is worth the effort and should be made. WordPress continues to be a great blogging tool.
