Monetizing Web Sites

I finally have this blog fully monetized. It was a very time consuming process requiring applying for affiliate programs, waiting for responses if I would be accepted in their program, and then integrating ads throughout this blog.
I got most of the programs that I’ve applied for, except for the credit card affiliates. They require that I implement a privacy policy for this site and prove that most of my readers are Americans. I’m trying to get American Express ads on my site since they pay out $25 to $200 for a commission.
When I first started this blog, I never bothered trying to make money with it. Then about half a year ago I joined Google Adsense and I was making enough money from it to pay for my home ADSL Internet costs. I wondered why I didn’t do this sooner. Getting free high speed Internet access is not too bad. It’s also exciting making money from my web sites.
I strongly recommend all web site owners to monetize their sites. One thing that can destroy a good web site is success. If you get too many page views, you may get kicked off the web host your with unless you pay for the additional traffic charges. When you start making money, you may even want to co-locate a server, but this will cost about $150-200/month plus traffic charges if you exceed the allowed amount. When your making money from your web site, you don’t have to worry about too much success.
