How to Find a Good Web Designer or Programmer

Talent in the web is found on the web, not at networking events.

This quote sums up Scott’s article, How To Find Web Designers and Programmers For Your Startup, very well. He has a good understanding of the mind set of a software developer.

I would rather be coding than attending networking events. Virtual networking, or social networking as its more commonly known as, is something I’m heavily involved with, but this is very different from face-to-face networking.  Real person networking is important nonetheless, it does have great benefits in building the partnerships necessary for a successful product.

Its typical for programmers to not return calls or e-mails quickly. This isn’t anti-social or anti-business behavior. Its usually the result of becoming very focused on a project. A non-programmer typically doesn’t appreciate the efforts in developing an application, even though they demand “on budget, on time” (something difficult to achieve in the the real world).
