WordPress 2.8

Posted by Johan Cyprich on 12 Jun 2009 | Tagged as: Applications

WordPress 2.8 was released on June 10 and it was a very easy upgrade on my blog with the automated update feature on WordPress. All of my plugins and my theme are working without issues in the new version. I strongly recommend backing up your blog and database before making any upgrade. There was one update that I made where my blog failed to work and I was forced to revert to an earlier version until the problems were fixed in a future version.

Highlights

  • improved drag and drop widgets
  • theme browser and installer
  • dashboard widgets can be displayed in 1 to 4 columns
  • support for IIS 7.0 URL Rewrite Module – this important because I’m planning on switching to an IIS web hosting package soon

There were many more updates but these ones are the more significant. The following video gives a quick overview of the new version.
