My name is Johan Cyprich and I’ve been writing software since 1984. My first programming teacher was that little yellow bird that taught Cartridge BASIC for the IBM PCjr.

Since then, I’ve programmed in QuickBASIC, Visual Basic, Turbo Pascal, assembly language, C, C++, and more recently, C# and PHP.

Anyone who has been using computers for more than a few years probably has a shelf full of software which never gets used due to it lacking features, not being very usable, or having too many bugs. What are the factors that make software successful and used regularly? What makes some some software companies successful and other companies not successful? This is what I will explore on this blog.

I also write about other computer related topics, such as interesting hardware and software that is available, and business practices. Since this is a blog, you will also periodically see topics that have nothing to do with the theme.
